Dear all,

On the tails of the announcement of GAP 4.9, I'd like to announce Gap.app v0.5.  Gap.app is a native Mac frontend and distribution for GAP.  See

The default download of Gap.app (the green button on the webpage) includes a full copy of GAP 4.9.1 for the Mac.  No compilation is required.  Install everything you need for GAP by dragging and dropping Gap.app to your Applications folder!

Gap.app is the native Mac frontend to GAP.  The new release has, after a long hiatus, been significantly improved and polished.  It should work with any recent GAP version, and has been tested with GAP versions 4.8 and 4.9 on macOS 10.12 and 10.13.

Features of particular note (starred * features are new):
  - *Supports an embedded copy of GAP.  (With supporting edition; choose Built-in 
     GAP under Preferences.)
  - *Save and load Gap.app sessions.
  - *Real-time memory monitoring.
  - Native Mac-like editing of the command line, including command completion.
  - Full xgap support, allowing graphical interaction with subgroup lattices.

A screencast video on the website demonstrates many of Gap.app's features.
